  • More Than My Past

    This campaign aims to tackle stigma towards ex-offenders and people in recovery from addiction.

    Produced by Forward Trust, the campaign shows that ex-offenders and people in recovery change and succeed. The campaign shares stories of people from all walks of life and has created a podcast presented by film star Jason Flemyng and Forward Director of Recovery, Julie Muir.

  • College of Lived Experience Recovery Organisations (CLERO)

    CLERO was started in 2020. The aim is to develop a Recovery Strategy that is signed up to by key leadership figures and organisations from the (addiction) recovery sector in the UK.

    Focused on Lived Experience Recovery Organisations (LEROs), and has the idea of active citizenship at its core. They aim to build coherence, trust, credibility and consensus for recovery groups and communities based on a model that promotes an evidence-based approach predicated on Lived Experience.

  • Phoenix Futures – Anti-Stigma, End Discrimination

    With a long history in Anti-Stigma activities Phoenix have created a range of anti-stigma activities ranging from podcasting, documentary, story sharing, social media campaigns, music and film festivals, theatre projects and community-based activities.

    The Phoenix website features a language guide and you can download and play Babble Box, an anti-stigma card game designed to encourage meaningful conversations.

  • NHS APA – Stigma Kills campaign

    A group of NHS Providers from across the UK that work together to support and develop the addictions treatment and support sector.

    They work collaboratively with service users, carers and other organisations who are committed to making a positive difference to the ongoing development of the addictions field, including within drug, alcohol, gambling and gaming treatment and support.

  • Action on Addiction

    Every year Action on Addiction host Addiction Awareness Week to shine a light on the complex causes of addiction and challenge the stigma surrounding it.

  • UK Drug Policy Commission

    The UK Drug Policy Commission has now finished its work. It ran between 2007 and 2012 as an independent body that provided objective analysis of the evidence concerning drug policy and practice. They produced ground-breaking work looking at the impact of stigma on delivering Government policy.

  • Stitch away Stigma

    Stitch Away the Stigma is a creative art programme to support anyone who loves or cares for someone with an alcohol/drug use disorder or gambling addiction.

    The hand stitched pieces of art are sown together into a wall hanging for your voice to be heard when you may often feel forgotten.

  • Adfam

    Drug & alcohol use can threaten and ultimately destroy family relationships and wellbeing. Adfam empowers family members and carers, supports frontline workers and influences decision-makers to stop this happening.

  • Scottish Government – Tackling the Stigma of Addiction

    A national campaign highlighting the damage caused by the stigmatisation of problem drug and alcohol use.

  • The FrameWorks Institute

    The FrameWorks Institute is a nonprofit research organisation that helps mission-driven organisations build public will for progressive change.

    The FrameWorks Institute website carries a number of reports looking at how people think about addiction and different ways of talking about addiction.

  • Change Your Mind

    Change Your Mind is Northern Ireland’s regional campaign to tackle stigma and discrimination around mental health. It is a joint programme run by Inspire and the Public Health Agency. They are a grassroots campaign shaped by the collaboration of communities, organisations and individuals who are championing the message against mental health stigma across society – a campaign for people, driven by people.

  • Time to Change Wales

    The first national campaign to end the stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems in Wales. The campaign is delivered by a partnership of two leading Welsh mental health charities, Mind Cymru and Adferiad Recovery.
